Isaiah 53 has become one of the most iconic passages in the Old Testament concerning Christ. In it, we see the description of our suffering Savior, led as a sheep to the slaughter. This passage, when broken down, explains to us the humanity of Christ, the work of God the Father at the crucifixion, and the future glory of Jesus. In this series, we will learn the many lessons in Isaiah 53.
If you have chosen this curriculum, know this: this study is heavy. It is not necessarily deep, but the content is heavy. The story of Christ dying on the cross should be heavy. Be prepared for it. Try not to enter the room in sackcloth and ashes. Be upbeat until the lesson begins. After the lesson is over, unless the Spirit leads to other reactions, try to lighten the mood a bit. There is nothing wrong with leaving a session with a contemplative spirit, but it gets burdensome six weeks in a row.
I know this lesson series will be a blessing to you and your group. I pray that the message of our suffering Savior changes hearts and lives.
