Description

When someone walks into the library and picks up a book, the first thing they do is look at the back cover. Before choosing a book, most people want to know the general direction, or theme, of the book. When we know the basic idea of the story, we can know what to expect from the characters and plot. The same is true with the Bible.

I have found over the last few years of Bible teaching that many people misunderstand or misinterpret the Scriptures because they do not know the main themes of the Bible. Many students do not read the Bible because it does not make sense. We often look at the Bible as a collection of separate books, and it is. But, because all of these books were inspired by the same God and for the same purpose, there are common themes throughout all the books. In this series we will attempt, as much as is possible in 6 lessons, to tell the main story of Bible. These lessons should draw a line from Genesis to Revelation. We will look at the Promise made to Adam, the Promise made to Noah, the Promise made to Abraham, the Promise made to David, Some Bible Basics, and the Entire Bible Story. As the student learns the general direction of the Bible, the entire story will begin to make more sense.

These lessons will touch on many complex doctrines. It is important to remember that the purpose of this series is to give the students a working knowledge of the Basic Bible Themes. Discuss the doctrines offered in these lessons, but do not let them distract the main goal.
