The foundation for this entire lesson series comes from a verse that never appears as the text verse for any lesson. Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are “God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus, foreordained unto good works that we should walk in them.” This lesson series is designed to combat the idea that changing the world is exclusive to Pastors, preachers, teachers, deacons, or even grown-ups. God wants each one of us, as soon as we become His children, to become Change Makers.
We will begin with Moses and his many excuses at the burning bush. He was called to be a Change Maker, and he felt far from able. We will then look at Samson. He was chosen before birth but allowed guilt to stop him from being a Change Maker. Next, we will look to David and Goliath. David was a Change Maker because he approached the situation with an “I Think I Can” attitude. Then, we will see the story of the three Hebrew Children and the Fiery Furnace. They chose to become Change Makers by stepping out in faith and making the 2nd decision to follow God. Then, we will see Jesus, our Great Example. He chose to be a Change Maker in the face of prejudice and hunger. Lastly, we will see how Paul preaching to Felix and Agrippa. We will see that being a Change Maker means doing what we are called to do and nothing else.
As you teach through these lessons, be aware that Ephesians 2:10 will be alluded to many times. It may even be wise to post it on the wall. These lessons should encourage teenagers to see that their Christian walk has meaning right now and that it should not wait until adulthood. So, be encouraging!
