We have all heard the statement, “The Bible is boring.” This is so far from the truth. The Bible is filled with exciting, and sometimes wild, stories. When it comes to exciting stories, the Bible holds its own. The person who believes the Bible is boring has never read the Bible. This lesson series will have an indirect effect. We will study six stories that most average Bible students have never heard. We will seek to teach the most obvious lessons from each obscure story, but the aim of the entire series is to create a sense of curiosity about the Bible.
We will begin with the story of the Levite’s Concubine. Next, we will learn the The Death of a Fat Man, the story of Ehud the judge. Then, we will see King Saul and the witch of Endor, Judah and Tamar, the Widow of Nain’s Son, and the Seven Thunders.
It is our hope that this series will awaken a curiosity in the hearts of the students about the Bible. Only after one reads the Bible, will they understand how the Bible truly is the most exciting book ever written. The story of the love of God detours through stories of political intrigue, assassination, promiscuity, witchcraft, and mystery. Enjoy!
